CAUSES OF ILLITRACY

Image
CAUSES OF ILLITERACY Illiterate individuals are here among us! Today, on the way to work, at the grocery store or when you went to pick up your kids from school, you may have crossed paths with someone who is illiterate. You may even have exchanged a few words with them without being aware of their difficulties. Or they may be someone close to you: your spouse, father, sister or friend.  To find out whether you know someone who is illiterate or has difficulty reading, read the statements below and place a check against situations you have encountered. If you have checked several of these situations, you have likely been in the presence of an illiterate person. I have come across someone who: Chooses to read a document or fill out a form at home, using the excuse that he does not have his glasses or has a sore arm or hand. Mispronounces words with more than three syllables, or with more complex sounds. Has a limited vocabulary and has trouble expressing a simple idea clearly ...

EDUCATION MOST POWERFUL WEAPON

Image
EDUCATION: ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPONS TO CHANGE THE WORLD “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”  –  Nelson Mandela The Oxford Dictionary defines Education as, “The process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university.” As a noun, it is described as, “a body of knowledge acquired while being educated.” So in essence Education involves the imparting of knowledge to a person and then the consequent knowledge gained through this process. Education is seen as integral to enabling sustainable development around the world and especially so in developing countries. From fighting poverty to providing food security to curing diseases – education provides the tools needed to improve quality of life both economically and sociologically in modern society. So a lot of faith is placed in Education as a tool or weapon to change the world. There is no denying that Education is at the heart of...

POLOTICAL PARTIES PURPOSES

Image
The purpose of political parties The Netherlands is a parliamentary democracy with various political parties. Under the Political Parties (Grants) Act, national political parties can receive government grants to subsidise their activities. Political parties in a parliamentary democracy In a parliamentary democracy,  citizens elect their representatives . In the Netherlands this happens every 4 years. The candidates are  members of political parties . Citizens vote for  the party of their choice and, in this way, influence government policy. Role of political parties A political party brings together people with the same political ideas. By taking part in an election, parties hope to get as many of their members as possible into a representative body, like parliament or a municipal council. At the same time they try to hold as many posts as possible in the  government , or in the municipal or provincial executive. Political parties have various functions. One i...

MEASURE DIS SIMILARTY OF PERSON

Image
Measuring Dis/Similarities Between Objects (Cells) In 'n'-Dimensional Space Cluster analysis works creating groups that have minimal variance (more similar) within and maximal dissimilarities between them. Cluster analysis can work either agglomeratively or divisively. Agglomerative methods begin with each individual cell representing a group (or cluster) and joins the two most similar to form a new cluster. This then repeats until all of the cells have been clustered into one group. I'll explain this more clearly with graphics below because it is the technique that I will be using classify my cells. Divisive methods start with the entire set of cells, and subdivides it to maximize the dissimilarity between the 2 newly formed groups.  Distance Measures For Agglomerative Methods How do you tell how similar two cells are? It should be pretty obvious from the previous graphs that you can tell clusters apart from each other because the points in space are  closer  to e...

Disadvantages of E-Learning These disadvantages of E-Learning must be addressed to ensure the legitimacy and longevity of the online learning industry. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela We already analyzed the numerous  benefits of E-Learning  in our previous article. Now, it’s time to cover the opposite side of the coin. There are some major drawbacks to E-Learning, and these problems often get pushed aside in online discussions. After all, who would want to put the brakes on educational innovation? Looking at the industry as a whole also reveals plenty of enthusiasm, with the  statistics of the E-Learning industry in 2020  showing massive growth. However, educators worldwide still recognize some major issues plaguing the industry. Let’s have a closer look at these problems.  These are the disadvantages of E-Learning: Online student feedback is limited E-Learning can cause social Isolation E-Lea...
